In late autumn 2012, I had an intuitive sense that 2013 was going to be a very important year for the Center For Transformational Presence. Our 2013 calendar was already full, and quite frankly, I was feeling more than a bit overwhelmed! I sensed that it would be a year of great learning and growth for me, and that it would push me out of my comfort zone in many ways. The reality of international travel almost every month was also sinking in. Yet at the same time, I knew that I had to do it. 2013 would be a turning point year, and I was saying, “Yes.”
Indeed, 2013 has been all of that and more. Over the last twelve months, I was privileged to lead the Transformational Presence Leadership and Coaching (TPLC) program in six countries – Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Romania, and the United States. In addition, I was honored to be the keynote speaker for the Global Executive Coaching Conference of the Global Coaching Group in Starnberg, Germany in May and for the International Coach Federation Leadership Conference for Latin America in Santiago, Chile in November.
Yet that is only a part of the story. Four years after the founding of the Center and the first TPLC cohort, I am just one of many people who are carrying Transformational Presence into the world. There are now 273 TPLC graduates from 23 countries on five continents. And they are doing extraordinary things, from coaching environmental leaders, to working for education reform, to being the stewards for a higher awareness in business, to advocating for mental health reforms in the U.S. prison system, to helping shift how people in government view the world, to transforming healthcare organizations and policies, to supporting individuals through major life transitions and big projects. And that’s just a tiny sampling of all that is happening.
In March, 36 TPLC graduates from 11 countries came together in The Netherlands to create the first Transformational Presence Global Summit. For four days, we learned from each other and were inspired to dream bigger dreams. We asked big questions and discovered new directions for ourselves and for our world. As a community, our interests, work, and service are quite diverse, yet the glue that holds us together is our strong commitment to Transformational Presence and the difference it can make in our world. Looking toward the second Global Summit in June 2014, almost 60 TPLC graduates have already registered, and more will come. The number of countries represented is growing as well.
There was a time when I thought that the work of the Center for Transformational Presence was workshops, training, and coaching. However, now I know that these programs are vehicles in service of a bigger purpose. Our real work is to nurture and support a growing global Transformational Presence community that loves to co-create, to dream, to transform, and to manifest big things. They also love to laugh and have a huge passion for being together!
As 2013 draws to a close and I look toward a very full calendar for 2014, I am filled with gratitude and awe at all that is happening. I am no longer overwhelmed. If anything, I feel a deeper peace and clarity about the role of the Center in the world and my part in that. I’m very excited about all that is yet to come. I feel blessed that this work of Transformational Presence came into the world through me. And I am deeply touched, humbled, and inspired by how the work is evolving all over the world through the amazing people in this community.
